One of the major changes includes moving toward becoming a no-kill shelter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the construction that the shelter was undergoing to add more kennels and exercise runs and to remove an incinerator, the animals became distressed. Additionally, the shelter was running beyond its capacity by housing more than 100 animals who were awaiting adoption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help the shelter, students, staff, and faculty came together to collect toys, food, leashes, and blankets for the animals in residence at the shelter. Once all the donations were collected, they were presented to the shelter\u2019s staff just a few days before Christmas so the animals were able to have a \u201cpresent\u201d for the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kate O\u2019Malley, lead PHT instructor and program chair, assisted greatly with the coordination the project.
