\t\t\t\t\"Medical-Billing-Office-Administration-Students-Ross-Medical-Education-1\"<\/a>On Monday, August 11, 2014, the morning Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration<\/a> students from Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> campuses in Flint<\/a> and Davison<\/a> came together to attend the Michigan Medical Billing Association<\/a> East Michigan Chapter Meeting<\/a>. Ms. Rebecca Jackson, MIBOA instructor at both the Davison and Flint campuses, worked with the Michigan Medical Billing Association to ensure that all sixteen students from across both campuses would be able to attend the seminar.<\/p>\n

After a wonderful breakfast and opportunity to meet people in the field, the day began with a presentation on Priority Health Updates. This information was very useful for students as it encompassed news across the HMO, POS, PPO, and Medicare Advantage plans. The next topic was Enforcement Updates of Privacy and Security Rules, presented by an investigator from the Department of Health and Human Services. After that, they got an update from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. This presentation gave students valuable tips to employ when using web-DENIS and Blue Care Network updates. The final speaker was from the Michigan Department of Community Health, who spoke on the new CHAMPS system for Medicaid insurance and Health Michigan plans.<\/p>\n

Ms. Rebecca Jackson, MIBOA instructor, enjoys attending local industry seminars, workshops, and meetings because they impress upon students the importance of staying up-to-date in the constantly evolving field of medical insurance billing. She said, \u201cI loved seeing the students light up during the Privacy and Security Rules presentation, because they learned about HIPAA in module 1 at Ross. Also the students were studying Medicaid earlier this month, so the final speaker definitely connected with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
