{"id":14335,"date":"2014-09-18T12:11:38","date_gmt":"2014-09-18T16:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/?p=14335"},"modified":"2014-09-18T12:11:38","modified_gmt":"2014-09-18T16:11:38","slug":"flint-partners-american-red-cross-great-lakes-blood-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/flint-partners-american-red-cross-great-lakes-blood-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Flint Partners With American Red Cross Great Lakes for Blood Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Flint-American-Red-Cross-Blood-Drive-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Flint-American-Red-Cross-Blood-Drive-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ross Medical Education Center Flint American Red Cross Blood Drive\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-14337\" \/><\/a>On Thursday, August 28th, the <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> campus in <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/campus\/mi\/flint.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flint<\/a> hosted their annual blood drive. For the second year in a row, the campus decided to partner with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcrossblood.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Red Cross<\/a>. However, for the first time, they decided to open it up to the community, all enrolled future students, and Ross graduates. Making it an open house paid off &#8211; they had 18 donors total!<\/p>\n<p>According to Laurie Galloway, Flint\u2019s Assistant Director of Admissions, the campus prefers to do their drives through the American Red Cross because they also call their registered donors in the area to come donate. It\u2019s clear that they are very effective in their efforts to save and improve lives across the country. Their website states that they are \u201cthe largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing more than 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to some 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.\u201d Every donation contributes to the strength of the American Red Cross\u2019 influence throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Flint-American-Red-Cross-Blood-Drive.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Flint-American-Red-Cross-Blood-Drive-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ross Medical Education Center Flint American Red Cross Blood Drive\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14336\" \/><\/a>Recognizing the importance of providing blood to hospitals and other centers, the Ross community really stepped up. Of the 18 donors, 15 of them were Ross staff, faculty, and students from the <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/programs\/medical-assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medical Assistant<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/programs\/dental-assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dental Assistant<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/programs\/medical-insurance-billing-and-office-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration<\/a> programs at the Flint campus. Ross Medical Assistant student Sara Minard said, &#8220;I love being able to donate blood. It&#8217;s good to know I can save peoples lives.\u201d The mission of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services couldn\u2019t echo Minard\u2019s words better when it states that the organization \u201cempowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts of service.\u201d The Flint campus of Ross Medical Education Center is so thankful to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcrossblood.org\/greatlakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region<\/a> for providing the opportunity to help our nation in an extraordinary way. \t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, August 28th, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Flint hosted their annual blood drive.
