\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>Lisa Picard, Campus Director at the Roosevelt Park<\/a> campus of Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> recently heard the story of Bubby Everson<\/a> and was moved to help him celebrate his birthday this year. She shared his story with the students, faculty, and staff at the campus and they all jumped on board. Bubby turned nine years old yesterday, February 11th. According to his parents, his greatest joy is opening mail and playing with stickers. Bubby is a kind, happy, loving boy who is living with autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, deafness, and scoliosis.<\/p>\n

In addition to the debilitating diagnoses he is already battling, Bubby also has a fatal disease called Cytomegalovirus – better know as CMV. Most people with CMV will never even know they have it, but in a person with a weakened immune system, it is life-threatening. His parents do not know how long they have with Bubby and are really looking forward to delivering as many letters and stickers as possible to him for his birthday. The Roosevelt Park Campus is happy that they can be a part of this event by sending over 100 cards and stickers for Bubby to help make his 9th birthday special.<\/p>\n

\"Ross<\/a>His parents made a P.O. box at their local Washington post office to collect all the letters they were hoping would come from all over the country for Bubby. That way, on his birthday they could lead him on a treasure hunt filled with mail and stickers sent just for him. Lisa Picard, Campus Director, said, \u201cIt is great to be able to engage the students in the campus in being a part of something bigger. The students were excited and really got creative with the cards that they created. They had fun and we were able to make a young child\u2019s day a little brighter.\u201d She has dealt with the pain of losing a young family member and knows first hand how important it is to the child and their family to have the support of others. She said, \u201cto be a part of something so small such as sending the cards to make him smile and make one more day filled with joy makes it worth it.\u201d As of last week, Bubby had already received 14,000 letters and 3,000 packages from every corner of the world<\/a>. The Roosevelt Park campus is thankful to have the opportunity to be a part of such a large move of love and support for Bubby Everson and his parents.<\/p>\n
