All of the necessities collected will be donated to Humane Society of St Clair County S.N.A.P. (Spay-Neuter-Adopt-Protect). This drive will greatly help the staff by providing the animals with things that now the organization will not have to purchase themselves. “Low cost clinics do a lot to provide care, compassion, and services for people who otherwise would not be able to afford to have their pets spayed or neutered,” said Veterinary Assistant student Savannah O’Neil. During the drive, students brought in various items that included anything from bedding and kitty litter to cleaning supplies and pet toys.

S.N.A.P. is a non-profit affiliate of the Humane Society of St. Clair and offers everything from affordable vaccines to low cost spaying and neutering as well as adoption of homeless and unwanted puppies, kittens, and adult pets. Because they are non-profit, they depend on the donations and support of community members and organizations. Since they began in 2007, their mission has been “to work towards a solution to end the number of homeless and unwanted pets entering our shelters each year.” In addition to doing this through the previously mentioned support programs, they also offer educational programs to local young people.

Although the Veterinary Assistant class headed up this event, everyone on campus contributed items to be passed along to the organization. “I enjoyed finding things around my house that I know a puppy or kitten can use,” said student Justina Bede. The Veterinary Assistant class was so overwhelmed and thankful for all of the donations and were touched by their teachers, staff, and classmates bringing in so many items to help these local animals and families. “It makes us feel good to help these animals,” commented Veterinary Assistant student Lauren Wier.

To learn more about Humane Society of St Clair County S.N.A.P., visit their Facebook page, their website at http://humanesocietysnap.com/, or give them a call at (810) 329-7627.

The students, faculty and staff from the Ross Medical Education Center campus in New Baltimore recently hosted a pet supply…
Read More

[2
