\t\t\t\tOur campuses got creative for Dental Assistants Recognition Week<\/a> (March 4-10, 2012). See how they did it\u2026<\/p>\n

INDIANA<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Granger<\/a>, the morning DA class participated in \u201cTeach Me How to Brush,\u201d a project that forbade them to brush their teeth for 24 hours. They were then allowed to gargle with a solution that indicates the presence of germs by turning the insides of the mouth purple. Eewww!<\/p>\n

The evening DA class participated in National Children\u2019s Dental Health Month<\/a> in February by collecting donations of dental items for kids, which they distributed to area shelters and daycare centers. Students then spoke to the children about the proper use of toothbrushes and floss. Great job, Granger!<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne<\/a> collected 150 oral hygiene products for the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission<\/a> and invited guest speakers to the classrooms to talk about the dental industry.<\/p>\n

MICHIGAN<\/strong>
\nFlint<\/a> students in the morning and evening sessions designated their own Tooth Fairy who handed out sugar-free candy. Students also created a hallway display to educate everyone on tooth decay.<\/p>\n

The Roosevelt Park<\/a> campus knows how to have fun when it comes to talking about dental health. To recognize DA week, they held a scavenger hunt, played the \u201cSneaky Sources of Sugar\u201d trivia game and viewed a presentation titled, \u201cHistory of Dentistry.\u201d<\/p>\n

OHIO<\/strong>
\nSip all day and get decay? Ross College students in Sylvania<\/a> took a survey to guess how much sugar is added to popular cans of soda. They were surprised to see that most cans contained ten teaspoons! Yuck! They also created a poster on the effects of cigarettes on dental health. Way to go!<\/p>\n
