\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>This April, many Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> campuses joined forces with Two Men and a Truck<\/a> for their annual Movers for Moms<\/a> campaign. The Madison Heights<\/a> campus was one of those that got the opportunity to be a part of this fun and unique chance to support local mothers. Throughout the month, students, staff, and faculty collected items in their Movers for Moms boxes in the front of the campus.<\/p>\n

By the end of the drive, the campus was able to collect enough to fill a couple of the large Movers for Moms boxes in addition to 20 bags of health and beauty products and two large black bags full of clothing. There was a lot of variety in the types of items donated; it included everything from shampoo and conditioner to toothbrushes and toothpaste to jeans and shirts. All of the items were then donated to the South Oakland Shelter<\/a> in Lathrup Village, Michigan.<\/p>\n

In addition to the items that were donated here and there by many from the campus, there were some that brought in many items. For example, one of their evening Medical Assistant<\/a> students, Vera Williams, is an extreme couponer. During the drive, she brought in bags and bags of items to help with the project. She was a huge part of really helping to make this event successful with many health and beauty items.<\/p>\n

A member of the campus\u2019 Career Development team also donated multiple items. Michelle Prykucki, Career Services Representative, shared about the drive, \u201cMy sister and I used this excellent opportunity to do some “spring cleaning” in our closets. We were able to fill a whole bag! It felt great to be able to help mothers and their families.” She loved being able to bring in and donate clothing items to local moms in need. Michelle Ladouceur, Office Assistant, shared about the event, \u201cwe all felt honored to be able to help mothers and families in need this Mother’s Day.\u201d Many from the campus expressed similar sentiments, and they hope this is something that they can be involved in again in the future.<\/p>\n
