\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>The Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> campus in Roosevelt Park<\/a> works hard in their community in any way that they can. One of the community events that the staff, faculty, and students look forward to participating in each year is the United Way of the Lakeshore’s Day of Caring<\/a>. It is typically the largest of all the service projects throughout the year! Each year the United Way gathers hundreds of volunteers around a common goal and then send teams out to tackle it in a single day! Also, used as a hands-on example of how easy and fun it is to be involved in service, the event serves as the United Way’s annual campaign kick off.<\/p>\n

\"Ross<\/a>This event is one that the campus gets excited for every fall. In fact, this is the fifth consecutive year that the Roosevelt Park Campus has teamed up with the United Way to work on projects in the community during their Day of Caring. In addition to Ross, the teams this year included WatchMuskegon<\/a>, the cities of Muskegon<\/a>, Norton Shores<\/a>, and Muskegon Heights<\/a>, the Michigan Department of Transportation<\/a> and the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps<\/a>. All of these groups teamed up to help make their community more beautiful and prove that service can be fun!<\/p>\n

\"Ross<\/a>This year, Campus Director Lisa Picard, Assistant Director of Admissions Kristi Fulton, Career Services Student Support Representative Amanda Holman, and Financial Aid Student Support Representative Tara Ludlow volunteered for this great event. As a team they were able to plant trees along the highway coming into the city of Muskegon, Roosevelt Park, and Norton Shores. When that project was completed, they went to their second site which consisted of picking up trash, pulling weeds, and raking out areas in two lots located in Muskegon Heights. \u201cIt was great to be a part of beautifying our city and knowing we were a part of that,\u201d shared Campus Director Lisa Picard. Kristi Fulton, Assistant Director of Admissions, agreed, \u201cit\u2019s a great way to help our community and to be able to see the work we did when we drive down the roads each day and can physically see it.\u201d Everyone at the campus looks forward to this day each year and they already can\u2019t wait until next year!<\/p>\n
