\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>Throughout the month of December, the Owensboro campus of Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> hosted a food drive for the needy in the community. Many times during the holiday season, there is a lot of pressure that makes life even more difficult for those that are struggling. Students, faculty, and staff at the campus wanted to help alleviate some of that pressure, especially regarding food. Some at the campus even shared about times of past hardship that they had experienced in their own lives, and they had been so thankful for support during those times.<\/p>\n

The staff took time to consider which organization they would like to be the recipient of their donations. “When brainstorming with the staff on what organization the food should go to, we decided on Lewis Lane Baptist Church,\u201d Campus Director LaTasha Shemwell stated. \u201cOur decision was based on the lovingkindness they have shown some of our students in the past during their time of need.” Lewis Lane Baptist Church<\/a> is a multi-generational congregation with a vision of reaching their community, teaching people, and sharing the gospel with the world. Everyone was pleased with the choice and excited to help out the less fortunate in their community.<\/p>\n

From the beginning of the drive, each week in December the students brought in canned goods and non perishable items. \u201cOur students are some of the hardest workers I know,\u201d shared LaTasha Shemwell, Campus Director. \u201cMost come from work straight to school on a daily basis. The fact that they gave from their hearts despite it being so close to the Christmas holidays was simply amazing and warmed my heart!” The staff was so proud that in just three weeks time the students, faculty, and staff from the Owensboro campus were able to bring in over 400 food items to donate to Lewis Lane Baptist Church.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
