\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>This February, the Career Services team at Ross Medical Education Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan<\/a> hosted a job fair at the campus. The job fair was held in the Ross Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program<\/a> classroom. Career Services Representative Kim Jones came up with the idea after she received a call from Scribe America<\/a> asking to come to the campus to interview candidates. Since Kim and Byron Ruffin, Career Services Student Services Representative, having been receiving many other similar calls, the idea of the job fair developed.<\/p>\n

On the big day, local healthcare organization representatives filled the room and began to set up tables to interview prospective employees from among the current students, externs, and graduates that came to the event. Some of those present were Jason Gagneur from U of M Temporary Service<\/a>, Annie Steiner and Diane Hearn from IHA<\/a>, Kelly Cooke from Manpower<\/a>, Josh McCarley from Scribe America, and Heath Boston from the Eisenhower Center<\/a>. When asked why she came to the Job Fair, Manpower Representative Kelly Cooke said, \u201cI love Ross because you have prepared, professional students that follow up with us.\u201d Students spoke with recruiters about job requirements as well as application processes. Students and graduates left their resumes and many were asked to fill out online applications immediately.<\/p>\n

\"Ross<\/a>The students and graduates were prepared with their interview attire and portfolios, and Ms. Jones helped the them with last minute tips. Josh McCaley from Scribe America was happy to see all the interested candidates. He indicated that the Medical Scribe position is becoming vital in health care, especially in emergency rooms. Scribes are medical professionals who follow Physicians and record information into the electronic health records so doctors can focus on quickly treating their patients.<\/p>\n

The students found the experience to be informative and enjoyable. Carson Hosler and Greta Hundermark, students in the Medical Assistant program<\/a>, thought the experience was \u201cawesome\u201d and said that they would be interested in participating in another job fair. Ms. Jones also invited students and graduates from the Ross Medical Education Center Canton campus<\/a> to come and take part. Everyone in attendance enjoyed refreshments, and employers were so impressed with Ross students and graduates that they asked when there would be more graduates available! Manpower placed all the resumes they received in a drawing and presented Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration Centera Scott with a $20.00 gift card from Meijer to provide gas money to travel to her interviews!
