\t\t\t\t\"Ross<\/a>This winter, many people will go without important cold weather gear or a warm place to live. That\u2019s why the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Niles, Ohio<\/a> wanted to team up with a local shelter to help make sure their neighbors could keep warm. They decided to join forces with the Beatitude House<\/a> and to collect hats, scarves, and gloves for the women and children that are staying there.<\/p>\n

The Beatitude House is a local shelter for battered women and their children. They provide protection, shelter, and training for women that have suffered domestic violence and abuse. It is an organization that Gerita Cook, an instructor in the Ross Medical Assistant program<\/a>, works with throughout the year and suggested as a good partner in the community. The students and staff in Ross\u2019 evening classes wanted to do something special and impactful for their community and could think of no one better to benefit from their generosity. So, the evening students from the Medical Assistant program, Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program<\/a>, Dental Assistant program<\/a>, and Pharmacy Technician program<\/a> all came together and collected winter gear for them.<\/p>\n

Throughout the drive, the students and staff collected 75 pairs of gloves, hats, and scarves. In the past, they have also collected household items to help out at the shelter, but they were excited to help these women and children keep warm in the cold weather. \u201cThe students were thrilled to help these women especially considering some of our students are single mothers and some have experienced domestic violence personally,\u201d shared Gerita Cook. The campus hopes to continue to work with this organization, and they plan to host a personal item drive for the women staying there.<\/p>\n
