The June 2012 BIGInsight&#x2122;, Monthly Consumer Survey, reported that 80.4 percent of people with school-aged children plan to curb this year\u2019s school supply spending due to the current economic climate. While parents may have the best intentions, they were still set to spend approximately $603.63 on school supplies clothes, shoes and electronics in 2011, according to BIGresearch\u00ae, Consumer Intentions &amp; Actions\u00ae Survey (July 2011).<br \/>\nRoss Medical Education Center (RMEC) with campuses in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia has a plan to help families by holding its very first Build-A-Backpack Drive. Items collected will be used to benefit area school children at 22 Ross locations.<br \/>\n\u201cOur campuses have supported local schools in many ways, from participating in wellness clinics to adopting school families during the holidays,\u201d said Shibu Thomas, EVP Marketing &amp; Admissions, ROSS. \u201cThe Build-A-Backpack Drive marks first time we\u2019ve teamed up to benefit hundreds of kids simultaneously.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Donate to the Build-A-Backpack Drive<\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to donate to the RMEC Build-A-Backpack Drive can drop off the items at their local campus Monday \u2013 Thursday from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/f.cl.ly\/items\/0R1f0q1v461c3g3X2y39\/Build_a_backpack_press_release_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Campus locations and their partners are available by clicking here. <\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Ross In Your Community<\/h3>\n<p>The Build-A-Backpack Drive is just one example of how Ross actively serves its many communities. The campuses participate in a variety of events throughout the year to benefit hospitals, women\u2019s shelters, animal shelters, blood banks, soup kitchens and more. In March of this year, all campuses donated more than 21,000 items to local food pantries.
