With that, they united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion on October 19th. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stopbullying.gov\/blog\/2016\/10\/4\/october-is-national-bullying-prevention-awareness-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month<\/a> and October 19th was named Unity Day. That\u2019s the day in which everyone is called to come together in their schools, communities, and online to send one large orange message of support, hope, and unity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Morgantown-Anti-Bullying-Month-12-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"ross medical education center morgantown anti bullying month\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-23032\" \/>\u201cWearing orange provides a powerful, visually compelling expression of solidarity,\u201d said Paula Goldberg, Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pacer.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PACER Center<\/a>. \u201cWhen hundreds of individuals in a school or organization wear orange, the vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, sending the unified message to kids to know that they are not alone, and that our society supports bullying prevention in our schools, communities and online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event was brought to the attention of Dorie Alger, Campus Director, by Melissa Carothers. Melissa is a <a href=\"\/programs\/medical-assistant\/\">Medical Assistant program<\/a> student who joined the Ross family in September. \u201cMelissa is very civic minded and felt it was an important cause,\u201d Dorie stated. Melissa\u2019s classmates agreed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Morgantown-Anti-Bullying-Month-2-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"ross medical education center morgantown anti bullying month\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-23033\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Morgantown-Anti-Bullying-Month-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Morgantown-Anti-Bullying-Month-2.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>Adorned in orange ribbons, headbands, scrub tops, and even socks, the Morgantown campus sent a powerful message: Ross is a safe place for everyone. \u201cNo one should ever feel like they are not safe at school, work, or home,\u201d Jessica Cyphers, ACDOE, concurred. \u201cThe medical profession should lead by example. This includes our students. Turning a blind eye to the situation doesn\u2019t make it okay and doesn\u2019t make it end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of every four school-aged children will be bullied this year \u2013 upwards of 13 million students,\u201d said Julie Hertzog, director of PACER\u2019s National Bullying Prevention Center, which sponsors Unity Day and founded National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006. \u201cIt\u2019s important these students know they are not alone and that they have the right to feel safe.
