Faculty members Mike Bishop and Sarah Beckner, both instructors in the Medical Assistant program, along with students Nikita Avery, Regina Rigsby, and Jessica Wells all worked together to man the Ross table at the event. Their fun job was to spend time greeting and handing out candy to the children that came by their table.

However, it was not just fun and games. The annual Monster Dash event is a fundraiser sponsored by the Joseph’s Hope Foundation in Bowling Green. Joseph’s Hope raises money to help with orphan care and support and to help provide assistance with adoptions. Their primary goal is to provide financial assistance to families going thru the adoption process. Mr. Bishop, Medical Assistant program instructor, was thrilled to be a part of this event saying, “it’s a great opportunity for our campus to show our support to a great organization and help in our community.”

According to their website, Joseph’s Hope is named after two children adopted from Korea, Joseph Austin and Natalie Hope. The founders are strong believers in the importance of adoptions and strive to support those that are attempting to adopt. They know that the costs to adopt are often very high and that the process is usually painstakingly slow. However, the result of a new and safe home and family for an adopted child is worth all of the costs and waiting.

That’s why the Joseph’s Hope Foundation wants to make adoption more possible for average American families that are struggling to fund adoptions as the costs continue to rise. Joseph’s Hope’s website says that they’ve “created this organization to “Bring Families Together” by providing grants to families currently seeking to open their home to a child that needs a family.” Fundraisers like the Monster Dash help to fund their efforts and help children have a chance for a family and a home.

This fall, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky participated in the 2016 Monster Dash.
