\t\t\t\t\"rossMany people choose to pursue a career in the medical field because of their compassion and deep commitment to help others. This is true of the staff and students at Ross Medical Education Center in Lansing, Michigan<\/a>. They continually search for ways to touch the lives of those in need and to strengthen the Greater Lansing Community for those who call it home. This holiday season, the Ross Lansing campus proved their commitment by working as a team to collect donations for the SafeCenter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The SafeCenter is located just north of Lansing in St. Johns, Michigan. In addition to providing a 24-hour crisis hotline, the center offers safety and solace for victims of abuse at their emergency shelter. According to the center\u2019s website, \u201cdomestic and sexual violence is the most under-reported crime nationally. It is a crime that generally happens secretly in the home.\u201d With this understanding, the SafeCenter attempts to make it easier to report abuse and ask for help. They also offer ongoing support for those struggling to free themselves and their families from an atmosphere of abuse and violence.<\/p>\n

Throughout the weeks leading up to the holiday season, the staff, faculty, and students at Ross worked hard to collect items for these women and families during a holiday drive. With Ross Medical Education Center\u2019s heartfelt donations, ranging from diaper rash ointment and laundry detergent to comfy new pillows and even a Christmas tree, the holiday season was able to be a little easier for the individuals and families who receive this much-needed support as they prepare to start a new life and a new year.<\/p>\n
