\t\t\t\t\"RossThis summer, to celebrate the 4th of July and to show that they are grateful to the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces, the Ross Medical Education Center Davison, Michigan campus<\/a> stepped up in a unique way. To support the brave troops that protect our nation, the campus held a Coupon Drive for the program Troopons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Troopons is a program that seeks to enhance the wellbeing of both overseas and domestic military families. They do this in a simple but profoundly impactful way – by sending them food, non-food, baby, and pet manufacturer coupons to make their hard-earned dollars go just a little bit further. Although it may seem silly because here at home it’s easy, we often forget that our papers and magazines arrive full of coupons. However, for military families overseas, they don\u2019t have the luxury of receiving those coupons and conserving their incomes.<\/p>\n

\"RossAlthough the troops are stationed around the globe, the stores on overseas military bases accept manufacturer coupons from the United States, even expired ones. So for every dollar that those back home can help them save in their on-base store, it makes their American dollar worth just that much more to them for things off-base. This unique program is overseen by Support Our Troops<\/a>. The organization also administers the coupons donated to base stores worldwide, and to bases across the United States following the constantly changing needs per location.<\/p>\n

\"RossThroughout the month students at the Davison campus were able to drop off the coupons that they had received in the mail into a donation box. At the end of the month, a few classes spent part of their day cutting and sorting the coupons for delivery to Troopon. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved. Kesondra Ducharme, a morning instructor in the Medical Assistant program<\/a>, made sure that her class helped in the cutting and sorting of the coupons. Mrs. Ducharme said, \u201cit was truly illuminating watching my students take part in the Coupon Drive. Seeing them cutting and sorting all those coupons for our Armed Forces let me know that they are a cut above the rest.\u201d In total, the Davison campus was able to collect a total of two pounds worth of cut coupons.<\/p>\n
