This year\u2019s event was located at Delia Park in Sterling Heights, Michigan and consisted of nearly 500 participants. Through this event, over $100,000 was raised for St. Jude and its families.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Ross Medical Education Center New Baltimore St Jude 5k\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-39531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>According to their website, \u201cSt. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.\u201d Over more than 50 years, St. Jude has been dedicating their efforts to finding cures and saving the lives of children. Thanks to their incredible and innovative research, they have helped to increase the survival rate of those fighting childhood cancers to over 80% from the 20% survival rate it was in 1962. \u201cThe mission of St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family&#8217;s ability to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-2-300x191.jpg\" alt=\"Ross Medical Education Center New Baltimore St Jude 5k\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-39533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-2-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-2-768x490.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-2-1024x653.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-New-Baltimore-St-Jude-5k-2.jpg 1196w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\u201cThe entire morning of our volunteer experience was a roller-coaster of emotions,\u201d said Campus Director Jennifer Maniaci. \u201cHearing the stories shared on stage of how St. Jude has helped these children in need and how grateful their families are was a very rewarding experience to be a part of.\u201d Career Development Representative Tami Schabel agreed. She shared that her experience was an emotional one, \u201cespecially meeting the families of children who have passed away from cancer and greeting and directing their team of walkers\/runners &#8211; all there to support the cause of St. Jude Ending Childhood Cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tiffany Simokovich, Admissions Representative, held a very important volunteer job at the event.
