\t\t\t\t\"RossOn a Saturday in October, staff, faculty, and students from Ross Medical Education Center campus in Flint, Michigan<\/a> came together to make a difference. Mrs. Janet Abueita, an instructor in the Flint Medical Assistant program<\/a>, and Ms. Rebecca Jackson, an instructor in the Flint Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program<\/a>, gathered students and staff to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"RossThe annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is hosted by the American Cancer Society<\/a>. According to their website, \u201cthe American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.\u201d To accomplish their goal of saving more lives from cancer, the American Cancer Society works to make care and resources more readily available to all those that need them as well as increasing education to help prevent cancer when possible.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was \u201cHope Heroes\u201d and everyone was encouraged to wear superhero costumes or anything pink! Hundreds of people walked the hour-long, 3.5 mile track through downtown Flint, even in the less than favorable weather. \u201cDespite the steady rain, the atmosphere was electric!\u201d said Instructor Rebecca Jackson. \u201cRoss participants brought their families, friends, and pets to walk with them to demonstrate the idea that at Ross Medical Education Center, you are part of our family.\u201d Apart from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. In 2017, over 252,710 new cases will be diagnosed. The campus staff and students are so thankful to their instructors for organizing Ross\u2019 participation in this awesome event for Flint staff and students to be a part of the community and the Ross family!\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
