Lauren is a familiar face at Ross. As their local blood drive coordinator, she meets regularly with campus administration to ensure the quarterly blood drives run smoothly. She spoke with students about the importance of donating blood, highlighted the types most in need, and answered questions regarding donor eligibility. Justin was new to the campus and wanted to share his personal story.

In 2008, Justin was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him with a 6% chance of survival. In addition to multiple broken bones, massive internal bleeding, and the amputation of his leg, Justin received nearly 100 units of blood in two days. After a five week stay in the hospital, Justin was fortunate to leave and has since become a staunch supporter and regular donor to the American Red Cross due to his understanding of the incredible impact that they have on lives of those in need.

The Morgantown campus has been involved in regular blood drives since it opened its doors in 2012. It solidified its partnership with the local chapter in 2015, making the move from an annual to quarterly drives. “The increase in opportunities allows the Red Cross to reach more of our student population,” said Dorie Alger, Campus Director. “It also allows the faculty to use the event as a learning experience for students as they are able to assist with donors coming into campus and observe the collection process.” The next drive is scheduled for January 2nd, which is the Ross students’ first day back to classes after the holiday break. To highlight the event, staff and faculty will be hosting a “Back to School Breakfast” that will help to prepare students for donation.

Continuing in their partnership, the Ross Medical Education Center Morgantown, West Virginia campus hosted Lauren Thomas and Justin Meadows from…
Read More

[2
