The children’s books they collect and donate are then used to create Financial Plus’ Little Free Libraries around the community.

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires the love of reading and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. In the area around the Davison campus, each of the book houses are placed in Flint parks to promote a sense of community, the importance of literacy, and to help children obtain and exchange free books. The Little Free Libraries are then used exactly as they sound. A child can come to the little library and take a book to enjoy. If they have another book, they can swap them out. People can enjoy the books for as long as they’d like and are always welcome to replace them with another for one of their neighbors to enjoy.

Ross Medical Education Center in Davison was excited to work with Financial Plus Credit Union of Flint to be a part of offering these children’s books for local kids to enjoy. In fact, the campus was able to collect and donate around 150 books for local children to read and enjoy. Campus Director Frank Skinner said, “it was amazing to see how many books were given. One student brought more than an entire storage tub full of books. It’s nice to know that children who may not have many books will now enjoy these. We look forward to partnering with Financial Plus Credit Union again on such a project.”

Do you have a Little Free Library near you?
