\t\t\t\t\"RossIt\u2019s that time of year again! The time of year when families are purchasing much needed supplies for their children\u2019s school supply list to ensure a successful school year. Purchasing the necessary supplies can become a financial burden when coupled with providing new shoes and clothing before the school year begins. The Port Huron, Michigan campus of Ross Medical Education Center<\/a> hoped to alleviate some of that stress for local families by once again holding their annual school supply drive for a local elementary school.<\/p>\n

The Ross Medical Port Huron students, staff, and faculty participated in the month-long school supply drive. Each week the campus school supply table was filled with more and more supplies. The campus worked hard collecting all the essentials necessary for the classroom such as crayons, pens, pencils, markers, glue, colored pencils, paper, hand sanitizer, backpacks, tissue, Lysol wipes, and more. In total, the campus proudly collected over 260 items for donation. At the completion of the drive, the supplies were delivered by a few of the Ross staff members who had the privilege to personally meet some of the students who would be utilizing the donated supplies.<\/p>\n

\"RossThis year, the Port Huron campus selected the Cleveland Elementary Literacy Academy<\/a> as the recipient of the donated school supplies. The school\u2019s motto is, \u201cAdvocate. Innovate. Educate.\u201d The students attending Cleveland Elementary Literacy Academy are known as Super Bees. The Literacy Academy has transitioned from a K-5 school to a K-2 school to begin this new school year, and the goal of the Cleveland Elementary Literacy Academy is to give kids in K-2 a strong literacy foundation by enhancing literacy instruction. To accomplish this, literacy is embedded into every aspect of the curriculum. The students will build their literacy skills in reading and writing as well as in art and music.<\/p>\n

Michelle Kristick, the Cleveland Elementary Principal, shared, “The Literacy Academy and Cleveland’s Super Bees are excited to start a new school year, and I thank Ross Medical Port Huron campus for helping us begin this year with lots of new school supplies.” Michelle and the staff at Cleveland Elementary share students\u2019 accomplishments daily on their social media platforms.<\/p>\n
