To recognize that, <a href=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/campus\/mi\/saginaw.php\">Ross Medical Education Center in Saginaw, Michigan<\/a> has been active in participating with cancer prevention and awareness events over the past several years, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/involved\/fundraise\/relay-for-life.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Relay For Life<\/a>. This year, Ross Saginaw had events throughout an entire week dedicated to breast cancer awareness. All of the staff and students were very excited to participate and raise money and awareness for breast cancer, its treatment, and prevention.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day of the week, the students were presented with silicone breast cancer awareness bracelets. On Tuesday, the staff and students were allowed to wear their favorite pink T-shirt with their scrub bottoms. On Wednesday, the students and staff received their Ross pink breast cancer awareness shirts, and the team captains for the <a href=\"http:\/\/main.acsevents.org\/site\/TR\/RelayForLife\/RFLCY19NCR?team_id=2396700&#038;pg=team&#038;fr_id=92120\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Healthy Hooters Brigade<\/a>, a local Relay For Life team that hosted a pulled pork luncheon. For a $5.00 donation, the staff, students, and other businesses in the building received a pulled pork sandwich, chips, cookie, and drink. Anyone who donated also received an entry into a drawing for one of ten prizes donated by the Healthy Hooters Brigade.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Saginaw-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ross Medical Education Center Saginaw Breast Cancer Awareness\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-87034\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Saginaw-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Saginaw-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rosseducation.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Saginaw-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-1.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>All proceeds from the event were given to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">American Cancer Society\/Relay For Life<\/a>. The Healthy Hooter Brigade raised $280 for the American Cancer Society with the luncheon. On Thursday, the campus had a \u201cchoose your ribbon day\u201d. The staff and students could wear any color T-shirt or sweatshirt, with their scrub bottoms, as long as they had something affixed to the shirt indicating what color cancer ribbon the shirt represents. On Friday, the ACDOE handed out pink candy to the students. The festivities culminated on Saturday with some of the staff, their friends and family joining together to walk in the Making Strides, Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at Krossroads Park. This is a 5k walk to raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer. Ashley Hine from Career Services stated, \u201cthis was a very exciting week. We are very fortunate to be able to band together as a campus and raise awareness and money for something so important and life-impacting.\u201d\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October is breast cancer awareness month.
