It is with great pleasure that we at Ross present our August 2018 Outstanding Alumni of the Month Award to Trenidad Loomis.
As a student in the Medical Assistant program at the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Roosevelt Park, Michigan, Treni maintained an excellent attendance record, was very supportive of her classmates, and always worked hard to accomplish her goal of becoming a medical assistant. After the classroom portion of her program, she went on to complete a successful externship with the team at Muskegon Family Care. This experience helped market her to the position she currently has with Diabetic Foot Management Center. Treni could always be counted on to help her fellow students if they struggled in any way and her instructors relied on that helpful spirit as well.
Treni has been employed with Diabetic Foot Management Center since she graduated from Ross in September 2011. She serves as a Lead Medical Assistant for this office and is the campus’ main contact for externship and employment purposes. Treni is always sure to contact Career Development staff when her employer is hiring or interested in hosting a student for their externship. She performs a variety of tasks including greeting and rooming patients, obtaining the patient’s’ chief complaints, extracting medical records, assisting with ICD-10-CM coding and billing processes, answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, making reminder appointment calls to patients, verifying insurance, and ensuring patient information is accurate and current.
In a time and career field where longevity with one office or employer isn’t the norm, Treni has proven to be a dedicated employee to Dr. Holibaugh. More proof of that dedication is her choice to take the initiative to complete a medical billing course at Muskegon Community College to enhance her knowledge and skills for her employer. Treni is also preparing to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam even though her employer does not require this for employment. Every other weekend, Treni volunteers her time at Seminole Shores Assisted Living where she helps with their weekly bingo night for residents by passing out cards and chips.
