When you complete your Associate of Applied Science degree, you’ll be prepared to seek employment in an entry level position in a physician's office, clinic, or medical setting.
The Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science degree program has three concentrations available in addition to the Medical Assistant program.
This concentration gives you the opportunity to add specialized skills in medical scribing to your medical assistant training. With the rise of using electronic medical records, many physicians rely on the assistance of another healthcare professional to scribe for them so that they can continue to see patients and keep accurate records.
In this concentration, you are able to complete your medical assistant training while focusing in on positively impacting HCAHPS ratings through enrichment and understanding of the patient experience. Skills explored in this concentration include customer service and understanding medical law and ethics.
This concentration will complete your medical assistant training while adding specialized skills to your body of knowledge, like understanding the policies and procedures of patient confidentiality, HIPAA information protection, and the roles and responsibilities of inputting patient information and data into the EHR.
