With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Davison was excited to do something extra special for the local moms! Many area families are struggling to make ends meet and there are many items that definitely do not make it on the list of necessities. So, many hard-working, caring mothers in the local area consistently go without to make sure that their children are fed and cared for.
The campus partnered with Two Men and a Truck on their annual Movers for Moms campaign. The campus served as a drop-off location for the community and they started collecting items in April in order to get everything together by Mother’s Day. As the drive went on, they eagerly collected enough items to fill lots of boxes! The YWCA of Greater Flint was the recipient of these items. The campus was so glad to give so that some local women could know how much they mean to their community.
The YWCA of Greater Flint has been in the area since the turn of the 20th century. From day one, their mission has been “empowering women and eliminating racism.” They continue to push towards those goals through their numerous programs in the community that range from a safe house to welfare reform initiatives. They desire to help those in abusive or difficult situations in their community to be able to get their lives back.
The staff, students, and faculty all really enjoyed the opportunity to give to those that need a little support in their community. Assistant Campus Director of Education, Michelle Lambaria-Robson, said, “We want to give a huge thank you for everyone’s participation! We received everything from household items to diapers to clothes!” She continued, “It was a great way to show our appreciation for those who deserve it.” The Davison campus knows that being a mom is one of the hardest jobs around, and they loved getting to help make it just a little easier this Mother’s Day!
