This summer was full of excitement and various classroom and off-site activities for the Huntsville campus of Ross Medical Education Center. They were able to celebrate several pinning ceremonies with their students. They also had graduates complete the program and got to celebrate with them and those that were placed in their careers. The faculty, students, and staff also participated in some fun interactive learning projects as well as field trips and CPR training.
Later in the summer, the Dental Assistant students visited Oral Arts Laboratories. Oral Arts Dental Laboratory is a family owned and operated full-service dental lab founded in 1970 that specializes in CAD/CAM restorations, fixed and removable implant cases, orthodontics, flexible partials, full and partial dentures. All devices are made in the United States using FDA cleared materials. The students received a tour of the facility where they were able obtain a wealth of knowledge pertaining to dental technology. It was a great experience for all and increased the excitement of the students to enter the healthcare field.
Not wanting to miss out on the off-campus fun, the students in the evening Medical Assistant class had the opportunity to volunteer at the Manna House as well as Valley View Health and Rehab. They collected canned food and were then able to personally deliver their donations to the Huntsville organization. The Manna House is a public charity that works hard within their community to provide food and support to those in need. They are supported by individuals and organizations in their community. Valley View Health and Rehab offers long-term care and rehabilitation care to residents.
The Pharmacy Technician students also were able to participate in several field trips. One of them was to the Dublin Park Walking Trail. They wanted to exhibit the importance of taking medication as well as practicing good diet and exercise. All of the activities the students in the various programs were involved in helped to further prepare them for the healthcare field.
