Many Ross Medical Education Center students come in ready to make a change in their own lives and the lives of others. They are the type of people that work hard to make a difference. Deborah Stefaniak, a graduate of the Dental Assistant program from the New Baltimore campus, is no exception. Noreen Bishoff, Deborah’s Dental Assistant instructor, said of her, “some of the descriptive words that come to mind when I remember Deborah are: smiling, enthusiastic, caring, focused and respectful.”
From the very first day that Deborah walked onto the campus and into the dental assistant clinic, she had a smile from ear to ear. It was then, from the very beginning, that the staff and faculty on the campus knew that she was going to be successful. She brought a sense of respect and responsibility to the classroom. She immediately presented herself with the attitude of: “I’m here, I’m devoted and I’m ready to learn!” It was this mindset that showed her teachers and classmates that she planned to work hard and always commit to doing her best. Her natural confidence and good natured personality immediately made her someone that her classmates trusted and wanted to work with and learn from.
No matter what else was going on in her life, she always came to class fully engaged. Whether it was taking notes during lecture, completing a computer task, or mentoring and encouraging a classmate, Deborah’s consistent priority was focusing on the task at hand. In addition to her compassion and natural positivity, she always employs a very high level of attention to detail and desire to work efficiently and accurately. As she moves forward in her life and career, these characteristics will serve her well. Nearly all dental healthcare professionals are seeking employees with Deborah’s character and work ethic. No matter where she goes in the future, they will be lucky to have such a kind, hard working, intelligent person on their team.
