As a young girl, Jennifer Randolph had dreams of becoming an Oral Surgeon. However, growing up she learned that women pursued careers as secretaries. Therefore, she enrolled in the Legal Assistant program at Baker College. After one year Jennifer realized that she lacked the passion to finish the degree. In the fall of 1993 she saw a commercial for Ross Medical Education Center and enrolled in the Dental Assistant program. After graduation she found employment with Dr. Bollaert. She loved what she was doing, but life took her in another direction.
She moved back home, got married in 2000, and began working for a local programming company. During this time she had three children, but sadly, due to genetic problems, only one of her children survived. Their family was struggling financially, and her husband became an abusive alcoholic. She knew that she needed to protect her only son and made the decision to leave her husband. She had to work a miserable job but knew she was ultimately responsible to take care of her child. She lost her house and her car but continued to hold her head high with determination to change her life around. She made several attempts to reconnect with a job in the dental field but was discouraged because of the lapse of time it had been since she actually worked in a dental office. Through the encouragement of a supportive friend, she decided to once again pursue the only field she loved – dental.
Jennifer knew it would be hard to return to school at age 40 and was worried about how she would fit in. Plus, the financial commitment would be a big strain in her life. Regardless, she called Ross and enrolled in the evening dental program in September 2013. She was an exemplary student and unwavering in achieving her lifelong career goals. With all of the challenges she faced along the way, she continually picked herself up and pursued the life she always dreamed of. On June 20th, 2014, Jennifer achieved another goal and completed the Dental Assistant program in Saginaw.
