Since Ross Education began offering Associate of Applied Science degrees online through Ross College, they have had the pleasure of having students attend their campuses and then go on to pursue further education through the convenience of online learning. Nicole Laban is one of those students, and she benefited greatly from both experiences. First, Nicole graduated from the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Roosevelt Park, Michigan. She attended Medical Assistant classes while her husband was deployed. Then, just two months before graduating the program, her family discovered they would be moving to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
At the end of her classroom experience, Nicole completed her externship at an OB/GYN office and absolutely loved it. “I learned so much and got to work with an amazing doctor,” she shared. Although the office manager offered her a position, she was disappointed to be unable to take it because of her upcoming move.
After moving to Cuba, and with eleven more months left living on the island, Nicole decided that it would be the perfect time to continue her education. So, to take full advantage of her time, in February of 2015 she enrolled at Ross College to pursue her Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science Degree.
Throughout her time at Ross, both on the campus and through the online program, Nicole was quick to assist other students when possible. She always worked hard and had a great attitude. Despite many challenges, she consistently demonstrated her commitment to her degree program. Her hard work paid off and she went on to earn a 4.0 GPA!
Nicole acknowledges the challenges that come with being part of a military family, but she also believes it can be very rewarding, “I’m thankful I get to be with my husband and travel the world!”
Nicole is the Ross College Valedictorian for this month’s graduating class. The staff and faculty of Ross College Online could not be more proud of Nicole and all that she overcame to accomplish what she has.
