On Friday, November 1st, the Madison Heights campus gathered outside for a Michigan vs. Michigan State cookout! The cookout helped football lovers at the campus get ready for the annual game between the state rivals that took place the following day. More importantly, it also reinforced the warm atmosphere at Ross that causes students to often call it their “home away from home.”
Students and staff wore Michigan or Michigan State paraphernalia and enjoyed hotdogs, soda, and chips in front of the building. They were able to enjoy some friendly competition along with great conversation and plenty of laughs! Giveaways were another highlight of the event. Students had the opportunity to enter to win Ross t-shirts, tumblers, and pens as well as other prizes by putting their name in the pot of their favorite team! They also had the opportunity to guess the final score. The student whose guess was the closest to the actual score won a Ross Camelbak water bottle filled with candy, a t-shirt, pens, and hand sanitizer. Students were eager to win and excited to sport their new Ross gear!
According to a campus’ Admissions Representative, Derek Buffo, “Events like these help us to get to know our students better and create a sense of trust. Most importantly, it enforces a student’s desire to be in school so they will ultimately reach their goals…not to mention it is a ton of fun!” This is just one of the many community events held at this campus on a regular basis that help to make Ross feel more like family – more like home.
