Throughout the month of August, Ross Medical Education Center in New Baltimore collected school supplies for local New Haven Elementary School. This was the third year that the staff, faculty, and students from the New Baltimore campus have partnered with New Haven Elementary in order to help students start the school year prepared with all of the school supplies they may need.
After working hard to collect supplies, the campus was able to donate over 200 items in all. These items included glue sticks, notebooks, crayons, markers, and folders. Ross staff, students, and faculty hope that this donation will help to offset the cost for teachers and families and assist in setting up the classrooms for a successful year.
The New Baltimore campus takes great pride in working with their community. Helping to support a local school district to ensure that students will have everything that they need in order to be successful means a lot to those at the campus. Lauren Hadley, Medical Assistant student at New Baltimore said, “I am so excited to play a role in having such a positive impact in our community!” This was a sentiment shared by many students who had experienced hard times during their own schooling or known those that had.
Many families are unable to provide all of the supplies that their students need, so classroom teachers are often left to pick up the slack. Peggy Goddu, Career Services Support Representative in New Baltimore, helped with the delivery and said, “it is so wonderful to be able to have such a positive impact for youth in our community.” Everyone that took part in the drive was thrilled that another student would be able to have the same opportunities as their classmates as they learn throughout their day. The campus is already looking forward to raising even more donations in next year’s annual drive!
