This March was a busy month for the Ross Medical Education Center staff, faculty, and students in Ontario! Once again, the campus participated in the annual company-wide food drive and got into the spirit with fun and competition. Students brought in non-perishable food items to donate to the food drive. It is always an exciting time to see which programs and students will participate the most! All the students were very motivated to bring items and to help out in their community.
After collecting items throughout the drive, they ended with over 120 items that they were able to turn around and donate to the Mosaic Church in Mansfield, Ohio. The church runs multiple ministries, one of which is a food pantry and grocery ministry. The campus has partnered with Mosaic before, and they were, as always, very appreciative of the donations. The church has a vision to reach out and serve their community by providing food for those in need. However, many times they are in desperate need of donations themselves to continue their work in the community and rely on donations from local drives to keep their shelves stocked.
Ontario also published their first edition of the ROSSatouille. This cookbook made up of a collection of recipes from students and staff. Erin Slusher, Financial Aid Student Services Representative at the campus, created a packet for March’s National Nutrition Month to invite all students, staff, and faculty to participate by submitting a recipe for the cookbook. Included in the packet was the invitation letter stating how to submit a recipe, a recipe form if they wanted to write it out, 20 ways to eat healthier, a nutrition word search, and sudoku puzzles. Recipes were submitted from various categories including desserts, main dishes and dips! Erin formatted the recipes into a recipe book that was given to all students, staff, and faculty. The campus plans to make this an annual project in March for National Nutrition Month as all who participated and received a copy of the cookbook were really excited to see all it contained.
