Ross Medical Education Center thoroughly believes that part of being a good neighbor is welcoming new businesses and partners in the community, and that is exactly what the Ross campus in Port Huron did last week. The campus welcomed a representative from MedExpress, an urgent care medical facility new to the area, to visit the campus and speak to the staff and students about their services and the specific attributes they look for when staffing their office. Heather Clark, Office Manager at MedExpress, took time out of her busy schedule to speak to the students at the Port Huron campus and her visit was very well received. The students and staff gained a better understanding of the services MedExpress offers, as well as solidified a new working relationship between the campus and MedExpress.
Ms. Clark was very informative. She explained that MedExpress is a physician-led neighborhood medical center providing wellness and preventative health care, treatment for illnesses and injuries and employer services. The Port Huron site is open seven days a week, 12 hours a day, which provides flexibility and peace of mind for those in need of medical treatment during non-business hours. Ms. Clark also shared that MedExpress is growing rapidly; since June of 2014 they have opened an additional 16 clinics, bringing the company to 146 clinics in 13 states.
During Ms. Clark’s visit to the Port Huron campus she also took the opportunity to speak to the students about professionalism, the importance of good attendance, and the MedExpress hiring process. The students were very engaged and interested in learning more about specific hiring expectations at MedExpress. Nicole Hardy, a Medical Assistant student inquired, “what does the company look for in a candidate when hiring?” Ms. Clark shared, “The candidate must be prepared, punctual, represent themselves professionally, have an excellent attitude, and smile.” She continued, “We find the best employees have come from the service industry, because they must always give excellent customer service.” Providing high quality customer service to their patients is extremely important to MedExpress. Ms. Clark shared that one of the ways they ensure and monitor the level of customer service they are providing is by surveying each patient they treat via email after their appointment.
The students and staff were noticeably impressed by the extra step of customer service that MedExpress provides to ensure they are going above and beyond for their patients. With the addition of MedExpress to the neighborhood, the Port Huron campus has not only gained a new neighbor but a new partner in their mission to provide exceptional customer service in the medical field.
