With demanding academic schedules and the craziness of the Holiday season upon us, it is sometimes easy to forget all of the things we should be thankful for. Recognizing this, the Roosevelt Park Campus came up with the Wreaths of Gratitude project to help students remember all that they have to be thankful for this season. Each student was given a hand-shaped cut-out on which they were instructed to write five things they are thankful for, one on each digit. When discussing the project, Afternoon Medical Assisting student Amanda Foster shared,
“Reading what different students are thankful for really helped me to appreciate what I have in my life. It helped me to see that other students are so thankful for the necessities many of us take for granted like being able to pay their heat bill.”
Along with the Wreaths of Gratitude the Roosevelt Park Campus is also participating in the Toys For Tots program and The Ronald McDonald House Pop Top Collection project.
Roosevelt Park is also having a “Pennies in Heaven Contest”, which is running November 18th through December 16th, to encourage students and staff to participate in community initiatives such as volunteering time to sort toys for Toys for Tots, donating a toy, making a homemade card for a veteran, or performing random acts of kindness.
