On Friday, March 6th, Ross Medical Education Center’s Roosevelt Park campus hosted their 3rd Annual Career Fair. More than sixty current students and graduates attended the event which offered them the opportunity to meet several employer representatives. Many area healthcare institutions were represented and students loved the incredible opportunity to network with them. Some of the area organizations in attendance included Mercy Health, Associated Retinal Consultants, Muskegon Family Care, Healthy Smiles, Medical Weight Loss Clinic, Comfort Keepers, and DaySpring Services. Each employer provided students and graduates with information regarding employment, externship, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities with their organizations.
The students and graduates really appreciated the event, but so did the local employers. They were able to meet and get a first impression from so many eligible employees from various Ross programs. According to Anne Giacalone, Human Resources Director for Associated Retinal Consultants, “students were very polite. Each shook my hand, looked me in the eye and introduced themselves. Most were very prepared for interviewing. I met with several strong candidates and was very pleased with student attendance.” Margie Squire, Administrator for DaySpring Services, agreed saying, “love this job fair. I can be so open and personal with the students. It’s nice that they are prepared with resumes. Great turn out and I feel like I got a few very positive applicants!”
Those graduates and students that were able to attend walked away from the career fair excited and looking forward to their futures after talking with area employers and giving out copies of their resumes. Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration student Angela Gardner was thankful to have been able to attend the Career Fair. In fact, after speaking with one of the recruiters, she was sent directly to their office for an interview! She said, “I am so glad I attended the career fair! What a day! Thank you so very much for making this opportunity available to me by having the career fair!”
