Just like the many students and graduates of the Ross Medical Education Center ground programs, there are also many students and graduates of the Ross College Online associate degree programs that the staff and faculty are inspired by and of which they are so proud. Each month for the Ross Online commencement, the staff selects one student as valedictorian that consistently displays the kind of character, hard work, and academic achievement that Ross students are expected to exhibit. This month’s valedictorian is Christina Jones Hancock.
Christina lives in a small town north of Grand Rapids, Michigan where she raised three sons. She lives in the country and loves the country life. She grows her own vegetables, and enjoys crafts and quilting. Although she has loved her life, she knew that she wanted something more for herself, and that pursuing further education in the healthcare field was definitely a way to achieve her goals.
So, in September of 2014, Christina made the decision to continue her education. She decided that she wanted to take her education and career to the next level. She went on to enroll in Ross College’s Medical Billing Administrative Specialist Associate of Applied Science degree program and committed to working hard and being as successful as possible.
During her program’s orientation, Christina shared that she had her children on her mind as she went back to school. She wanted to show her children, “that nothing is out of your reach if you set your mind to it.” She went on to explain how motivated her children have grown up to be, and that she couldn’t be more proud of them. It’s clear that they had someone to look up to as Christina showed her own determination earning exemplary grades throughout her degree program.
Congratulations, Christina! Each one of us at Ross is so proud of you and honored to name you as this month’s Ross College Valedictorian. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You are an inspiration. We wish you the very best in your future!
