The Ross Medical Education Center campus in Fort Wayne has much to celebrate this month! They took a global issue and made it personal by partnering with two young brothers in our community and an organization called Let Them Laugh Out Loud. Let Them Laugh Out Loud is a nonprofit organization that is helping to build wells in Africa. This organization brings focus to people all across the world who do not have the resources to “let them” improve their living conditions by providing clean drinking water for cooking, drinking, and bathing.
Local brothers, Isaac (7) and Aaron (11) Greene wanted to make a difference to young children who live thousands of miles away. So, they have decided to get involved by starting a campaign called “Little People Matter.” Their goal is to collect 4000 Lego Minifigures, which signifies the number of children who die each day because of poor water conditions, and to raise money to build at least two wells. They hope to use the Lego toys to build a 4 foot tall and 30 foot long traveling display that will serve as a visual representation so that others can see and understand the importance of clean drinking water for children in Africa. For additional information, the boys have launched a website at littlepeoplematter.com. As part of their campaign they are asking for donations of 10 Lego Minifigures, and/or cash donations of $15.00.
Ross in Fort Wayne has joined the “Little People Matter” campaign by collecting Minifigures, and some student and staff have donated funds online! We are asking the Ross family of schools to join us by sending Lego Minifigures to our campus so that we can help Isaac and Aaron build their traveling display. Any cash donations can be made directly at the Little People Matter website, www.littlepeoplematter.com.
