Earlier this month, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Roosevelt Park, Michigan hosted their 4th Annual Career Fair. This exciting and growing career fair consisted of seven local employers including the following organizations:
- Mercy Health
- Associated Retinal Consultants
- DaySpring Services
- Comfort Keepers
- Muskegon Family Care
- Dialog Direct
Staff and faculty welcomed the 46 students and graduates that attended the event. During the fair, each of them had the opportunity to network with the employers and learn more about the different opportunities within each of the organizations as well as talk and share experiences with each other and staff. The students and graduates came to the event dressed to impress; it was evident that mock interviews and Career Services talks had made a great impact.
During their time at the campus, many of them had the chance to discuss specific openings with various employers. It was also great to see that two of the Mercy Health Recruiters are continuing to support the mission and goals of Ross; this is communicated consistently through their active participation in all of the Ross events. These representatives have other ties to Ross and their students as well, they are Justine Mooney, a former Ross Career Services Representative, and Akia Pierce, a former Ross Medical Assistant program Instructor.
Toni Hamilton, Career Services Representative, and Amanda Holman, Career Services Student Support Representative, worked hard for months organizing this event and focused on preparing the students for the big day. There were emails sent weekly on important aspects of meeting and interviewing with potential employers. Some of these topics included: what to wear, resume preparation, good introductions, researching the organization, and how to really present themselves in way that would impress. The students and graduates did a great job that is sure to yield some positive results in the near future. It was a very productive career fair and the Student Services team looks forward to some great activity as a result of all the professional connections made.
