The Ross Brighton campus organized a “professional dress” clothing drive for current and past students. The students are required to complete a “mock interview” during their program with an individual from the Career Development department. This interview is designed to prepare students for interviews after completion of their program. The students are required to wear conservative, interview appropriate clothing.
The clothing drive provided free clothes and advice to students for mock and work interviews. Susan Mall, Career Development, says “appropriate attire is crucial to a successful interview”. Items donated included: skirts, blazers, blouses, scarves, shoes, and jewelry for women. Jon Elgas a MIBOA student “enjoyed the fact that men’s clothing was available”.
The clothing was collected over a three-week period starting in April. Students that had interviews prior to the day of the clothing event were able to put together an outfit. Allison Kosciolek, the Office Assistant, was instrumental in helping students coordinate selections to create very professional attire. Saturday May 17, 2014 students came to the campus from 11:00-2:00 to enhance their wardrobe to give them the confidence during an interview after graduation.
The remaining clothes were at the campus for an additional three days so students that were unable to attend on May 17, 2014 had the opportunity to browse and select items. The leftover items will be donated to the Dress for Success program that helps disadvantaged women in the community.
