Ross Medical Education Center of Lansing celebrated their second annual commencement ceremony on April 25, 2014 at the Best Western Plus in Lansing. The event allowed staff and family to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduated students. The hard work and dedication each student needed to graduate their program is something the Ross Lansing campus really enjoyed experiencing and celebrating. Thirty-two graduates attended bringing over 150 guests to the commencement.
The ceremony included five guest speakers. Four of the speakers were Ross Medical Education Center graduates, one from each type of program. Kellie Langlois, a Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration graduate, spoke about the support she received from campus management, her instructors, fellow classmates, and career services. She is working in a career she loves and enjoys her job each and every day. Kathlene Long, a Dental Assistant program graduate, talked about the health struggles she overcame as she completed the program. She was thankful for the personalized support she received from all staff to assist her in achieving her goals. Rosalee Merrill spoke about struggling with being a new mom and meeting her education commitments while working to maintain a family balance. She is also working at a job she loves. Michelle Alspaugh, a Medical Assistant graduate, who was working in the field for a major health care system, discussed the struggles she ove rcame to achieve a 4.0 gpa and perfect attendance in the program. These speakers shared the obstacles they overcame and highlighted their achievements throughout the program and after. The fifth speaker was a former Ross employee, Cecil Roberson, who worked in career development and holds two Bachelor degrees, a Master’s degree, and is currently working on his Law degree.
After the ceremony, students, staff and family enjoyed cake and refreshments. This also gave time for the graduates to reminisce about their days at Ross Lansing campus, and share what has been happening in their lives with the staff. The staff enjoyed seeing the students again and enjoyed being able to celebrate this wonderful achievement with them.
