At Ross Medical Education Center in Lansing, they understand that students choose Ross in order to live more prosperous lives through obtaining an education; however, they also understand that every little thing counts when it comes to building community.
In an effort to provide donations to the community without having our staff and students purchase items, the campus developed an initiative that allowed students to donate an item that wouldn’t cost them any more money than what they were already spending; pop tabs.
Lansing’s collection of pop tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan. In the early 1990’s, Lansing area hospitals, doctors and parents of ill or injured children came together to find the best way to provide care for the children and also allow the parents to stay in a comfortable atmosphere, rather than sleeping in waiting room and eating out of vending machines. The funds generated from the recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House’s expenses. In return, the foundation will be able to help those in need and Ross will have made it a bit easier to do so. At Ross, we constantly encourage our staff and students to donate items and time in order to help our community, because we understand the importance of giving to those in need.
