This February, the Evansville, Indiana campus of Ross Medical Education Center hosted two events at their campus. They did both in order to involve not only their current students, but also to reach out and include their graduates and members of the community. First they hosted a community blood drive which was open to the public as well as the local Ross family. Then they also hosted a career fair to which they invited Donna Miller, PHR, SHRM-CP, a Recruiter from Ascension Health and Kimberly Alsept-Gard, the Mission & Float Pool Manager at Ascension Health.
The campus was proud to host a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. They actually had the blood drive during the career fair said Campus Director Tara Ford. “We had both events simultaneously to increase our donor pool. During our blood drive we registered 14 donors and collected 12 pints of blood. Our team also registered 9 first time donors.” The campus was excited to be a part of this life-saving effort.
During the career fair, the representatives from Ascension Health’s St. Vincent Medical Group interviewed students from all programs. These interviews were held for active jobs in the field. The representatives present shared that they are seeking to fill these positions with qualified candidates such as Ross graduates.
Ascension Health’s St. Vincent Medical Group is one of the local medical providers in Evansville. As such, the Ross campus is proud to partner with them for externship and as an employer of Ross graduates. In the local area Ascension Health’s St. Vincent Medical Group provides both acute care and outpatient care. This offers Ross students and graduates a wide variety of opportunities. Out of the interviews hosted throughout the career fair, 10 students will be called for a second interview on site. This was an exciting opportunity to have Ascension Health’s St. Vincent Medical Group reach out to Ross!
