This fall, Ross Medical Education Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Hughes and Coleman Law Firm partnered together to host Safety Day. This was the first year of an annual event that benefits the children and families of the surrounding communities. During Safety Day, Ross and Hughes and Coleman were able to give out free identification kits for children.
These complimentary identification kits are able to provide copies of dental records, fingerprints, hair samples, and identifying birthmarks. All of these items can be used to help officials to locate and identify a missing child in the event that they need to be identified. Parents were given these kits to keep in a safe place. Although they will hopefully never be used, families were thankful for the tools to help keep their children safe.
Another aspect of the Safety Day was a bike helmet fitting for children in attendance. Hughes and Coleman representatives were on site selling bike helmets as well as helping kids make sure their bike helmets fit appropriately and safely. There was also a chance for one lucky child to win a free bicycle helmet!
The Bowling Green Ross campus also partnered with the local Bowling Green Police Department and Department of Transportation for car seat safety checks. Officials checked infant and child car seats to ensure that they were properly installed and used. Many parents expressed their appreciation; they were thrilled to have someone double check that their children were safely secured in the car.
This event was a highlight for many in the community, especially the Ross community in Bowling Green. The campus is already planning to stay a part of this exciting and important annual community event. They hope to help make next year’s event even bigger and better. “I personally love anytime we can partner with someone in our community to help our community as well as surrounding counties,” shared Kathy Conrad, Assistant Campus Director of Admissions. “At the end of the day it is about raising awareness for child safety!”
