The Ross Medical Education Center campus in Grand Rapids North, Michigan was recently invited to do a job fair at Innovation Central High School. This was slightly different than a typical job fair as it was focused on providing current high school students with an idea of their options in both education and careers after graduation. Many colleges from the surrounding areas showed up including Ferris, Grand Valley, Aquinas, and many more.
Ross Campus Director Amira Curic and Assistant Campus Director of Admissions Rene Helderman had the opportunity to attend this great community event. This job fair was for the junior and senior classes to get them ready for the next steps after high school was completed. Amira and Rene showed up early to set up their table with vision boards. The vision boards showed all the programs that Ross in Grand Rapids North has to offer. They set up some of the fliers for each class along with brochures, pens, chapsticks, and their smiling faces.
As the clock turned to 12:30 pm, the juniors and seniors piled into the gym. They were excited and happy to be able to see so many booths set up that filled the gym. As they spread out to each booth, the staff could see the excitement and the nerves as they asked questions to the participating college’s staff. Some of the questions that were asked of Amira and Rene were “How long are the programs?” “When do classes start?” “How can I sign up?” These were great questions that the staff was thrilled to answer.
Future students were also informed that Grand Rapids North had an upcoming Open House in case they were interested in coming to see the campus and to get more information on classes. Overall this was a success for the colleges to get their names out to the students and an invitation for the campus to come back next year.
