Recently, the Roosevelt Park campus of Ross Medical Education Center had the pleasure of hosting Faith Groesbeck, the owner of Birth Quest Services, LLC. Faith came to visit the students at the and share with them a bit about what she and her organization do. Birth Quest serves the West Michigan Lakeshore community (Muskegon, North Muskegon, Twin Lake, Norton Shores, Spring Lake, Nunica and beyond) by providing experienced birth & postpartum doula and childbirth education services. Faith started Birth Quest in 2014 out of a desire to provide evidence-based support and education to childbearing families in the local area. Birth Quest proudly serves traditional and non-traditional families of all beliefs, backgrounds, and lifestyles.
Faith serves as a birth doula to her clients in the community. As a birth doula, she works hard to ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience for her clients. She has experience and training in providing labor support for traditional birth, cesarean, and VBAC. She supports women who choose midwives or doctors as their birth attendants. She provides support for home births, birth center deliveries, and hospital births. In addition to her role as a doula, she also provides childbirth education classes and preconception planning education for parents-to-be.
The students learned more about the role as a doula and were able to participate in activities and engaging conversations with Faith as they learned about laws, regulations and current policies in the Muskegon area. Faith works closely with midwives, physicians and area hospitals. She was able to give local resources to the students in addition to Birth Quest for any services they may be interested in or questions they may have.
Faith did an amazing job with the students as she answered questions, provided them with information that they had never heard before, shared some of her experiences, and gave them in-class activities regarding testing that is done during pregnancies such as HIV, Ultrasounds, and more. The students had to research the tests and then provide the class with the information that was found. Faith then elaborated on the purpose of the tests and explained the importance and reliability standards of each. The engagement of the students was great. The campus is very thankful to Faith for joining us and delivering valuable information to the students at Roosevelt Park.
