This spring, the staff, faculty, and students from Ross Medical Education Center in Johnson City, Tennessee were thrilled to be a part of a great opportunity for young people in their region hosted by the Mountain States Athletic Center at ETSU. CareerQuest Tennessee is a unique way to get started on a career path early for those looking for an edge in the 21st century job market.
The campus was very excited for the opportunity to be a part of this event. After a representative from Mountain States Health Alliance personally reached out to the Ross Career Services team to see if they would be interested in setting up a booth, they didn’t have to think long before saying yes! The Johnson City campus is always happy to have the opportunity to offer hands-on, quality healthcare training to members of their community.
Throughout the event, over 6,000 students from the East Tennessee area came through to learn more about career options at the event. The Career Services team spent time sharing about the exciting programs offered at Ross. They were also glad to have the chance to meet and connect with other local healthcare facilities at the event.
“We discussed hiring opportunities and were able to talk about what Ross Medical had to offer this area,” shared Career Services Student Support Representative Tiffany Riddle. “We even met the Vice Mayor of Johnson City and she was super excited to learn more about Ross and what our students had to offer.”
Many Ross students also attended the event. Students from the Johnson City Pharmacy Technician program as well as others answered questions at the booth about what being a Ross student is like. Many of those that stopped by to ask questions were very excited about the potential of becoming a Ross student, “especially how the programs are accelerated and can help them get into the field. Current students talked to them about how to get your foot in the door through the Pharmacy Technician program,” said Tiffany.
This was a great and memorable event for the Ross staff and students as well as all of those younger students that were able to visit. The Johnson City campus looks forward to partnering more with CareerQuest Tennessee and providing exceptional healthcare training to students in their area.
