Recently, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Roosevelt Park, Michigan hosted their 5th Annual Career Fair. This exciting and growing career fair consisted of 10 local employers including the following organizations:
- Mercy Health
- Muskegon Family Care
- Hackley Community Care
- Muskegon Surgical Associates
- My Community Dental Clinic
- Dental Dreams
- Peace At Home Caregivers
- Comfort Keepers
- Dayspring Services
Staff and faculty welcomed the 63 students and graduates that attended the event. During the fair, each of them had the opportunity to network with the employers to learn more about the different opportunities within each of the organizations as well as talk and share experiences with eachother and staff. The students and graduates came to the event dressed to impress; it was evident that mock interviews and Career Services talks had made a great impact.
During their time at the campus, many of them had the chance to discuss specific openings with various employers. It was also great to see that two of the Mercy Health Recruiters are continuing to support the mission and goals of Ross. This is communicated consistently through their active participation in all of the Ross events. According to the Mercy Health Talent Acquisition Specialist, “I thought the career fair was a great event and could tell that it is growing and was excited to see additional employers there. I was able to connect with upcoming graduates and encourage them to apply early. Thank you for inviting Mercy Health to the Career Fair. We enjoy working with Ross Medical and hope to continue our partnership.”
Toni Hamilton, Career Services Representative, and Amanda Holman, Career Services Student Support Representative, worked hard organizing this event and focused on preparing the students for the big day. There were emails sent weekly on important aspects of meeting and interviewing with potential employers. Some of these topics included: what to wear, resume preparation, good introductions, researching the organization, and how to really present themselves in ways that would impress. The students and graduates did a great job that is sure to yield some positive results in the near future. It was a very productive career fair and the Career Development team looks forward to some great activity as a result of all the professional connections made.
