Approximately 30 students, faculty, and staff braved the less than ideal weather and participated in the Day of Caring. The Ross group worked on spreading wood chips around a facility and playground, pulling weeds, and cleaning up the fence area. There were lots smiles and the excitement of all of those involved was very evident. Many students mentioned that they had never done anything like this before. They felt really good about helping others and look forward to participating in other community service events. Many students thanked Campus Director Ginger Rezmer for promoting community service events as they felt the gratification in taking part in this event.

United Way’s focus is to identify and resolve pressing community issues, and to make measurable changes in communities through partnerships in the community. The direct impact that they make in the community causes everyone from Ross in Saginaw to look forward to continue participating with United Way in the future. Several of the faculty, staff, and students shared that they are planning on partnering with the United Way this summer for another community event and are thankful for an avenue to touch their community for the better.
