Students in Ross’ Medical Assistant program will be taught the skills necessary to be an essential member of the healthcare team in an office setting. This includes hands-on instruction in vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, laboratory testing, and administrative duties.

A medical assistant is someone involved in all aspects of meeting patient needs from the time they arrive until the time they leave. Medical assistants play an important role in the healthcare field in that they support doctors and nurses and interact with patients. It’s especially necessary for them to be proficient in hands-on tasks, both on the clinical side and administrative side of things.

Many people view medical assisting as a stepping stone on the way to becoming a nurse. The Medical Assistant program at Ross is fast paced and covers topics and skills that will be useful when pursuing a career in nursing, however; medical assisting can be a rewarding allied healthcare career on its own.

The Dental Assistant program at Ross provides a mix of clinical dental assisting and administrative dentistry training to prepare students for entry-level positions in a dental office. Students will learn the skills of four-handed dentistry and how to help keep the office running smoothly.

A common misconception is that a dental assistant is the same thing as a dental hygienist. A dental assistant helps the dentist by preparing instruments, ordering supplies, and completing front office work, while a hygienist is someone who cleans teeth.

Ross’ Dental Assistant program covers much more than teeth—students learn anatomy and physiology and how the human body functions as a whole. Combining book work and hands-on instruction, students will build a well-rounded foundation for working in a dental office.
