Pharmacy Technician training school students

Experienced training school instructors will also direct students in performing essential functions related to drug procurement and inventory control, manufacturing and packaging operations, compounding procedures, and much more. Upon successful completion of the training program, students should be prepared to work in entry-level positions in a community, retail, and/or hospital/health system's pharmacy.

What is a Pharmacy Technician?

Pharmacy technicians act in a key role in a pharmacy setting. They work under the supervision of a pharmacist and assist them by helping to prepare and distribute prescription medications to patients. They may do a mix of clinical tasks like counting pills, mixing medications, measuring medications, and labeling prescriptions and administrative tasks like taking payments and recording prescriptions over the phone.

Pharmacy Technician Externships

At the conclusion of the classroom portion of the Pharmacy Technician school program comes the extremely vital externship experience. The externship gives local employers the opportunity to meet, assess, and help hone the skills of the newest healthcare professionals entering the field before making hiring decisions.

However, it also allows Ross students to put their skills and knowledge to work in a real-world pharmacy setting. Unlike programs at other schools, Ross takes care of externship placement for you.

Certification for Pharmacy Technician Graduates

Certification is important to potential employers as they seek to hire the best and most qualified candidates. Becoming certified gives evidence that you have the necessary skills and knowledge as well as high commitment to your field. It shows that you are dedicated to providing excellent patient care and desire to continue growing in your profession.

Ross Medical Education Center and Ross College in Sylvania understand the importance of certification and are confident in the preparation they provide to graduates. Due to this, Ross offers a voucher to graduates that take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
